Lots of stuff to do before I head off to Montreal on Wednesday, so here are two solid blog posts by other people to keep you busy for a while.
First, the Two-Line Pass at Puck Daddy has a somewhat snarky summary of what we learned about each NHL team this season. It’s entertaining if not always informative. I enjoyed it.
Second, Pension Plan Puppets (a Maple Leafs blog at SBNation) has an incredibly robust spreadsheet posted detailing every player drafted since 1994. The spreadsheet is the real gem, but their post pointing out some interesting findings is well worth your time. Here’s a tidbit I wouldn’t have known i their info- the last time the Detroit Red Wings drafted a forward in the first round who went on the play in the NHL was 1991. It was Martin Lapointe. Everyone always says you can’t afford to get that first-round pick wrong. Apparently you can do well without them- the Red Wings have traded theirs six times in the last 14 years. That’s right- 43% of the time they don’t have an first-round draft pick.
In other news, The Falconer from Bird Watchers Anonymous (another SBNation blog) is going to be at the draft with media credentials, so expect to see some coverage from him.
Welcome to the first full day of summer, also known as my birthday.
Happy Birthday Ben!
