The NHL has launched a new fan site that’s heavy on blog, Facebook and Twitter links. It also has its own message board and eventually it’ll have fan blogs though none have launched yet from the look of it.
My favorite feature of the site so far is the list of Twitter feeds for all of the NHL teams (minus Toronto). I was already following most of them but now i’m following all of them.
I’ll just give you a small warning- we (both the Thrashers and Hawks) use Twitter differently than other teams. The Thrashers Twitter account is my Twitter account and it’s a mix of links, news, personal comments and random other stuff. Anyone that follows it knows who is behind it and I like to think that’s a good way to do it. I think it comes across as personal and somewhat engaging. I like to interact with other people and keep it casual. Pretty much all of the other teams use Twitter strictly to post news links and updates, so it’s a different approach. Feel free to let me know which approach you like best- I’m always open to feedback.
We wouldn’t have it any other way Ben. The personal touch is what keeps us coming back for more.

I like the personal touch you provide with your twitter account. You’re heavy on interesting news nuggets, generally do a great job giving us a heads up on team transactions before they become official, provide relevant links to other sites and sharing recipes with Stewart Cink is a nice sidebar from time to time! LOL Keep doing what you’re doing Ben.
Also, when you say the Thrashers will wear the red jersey exclusively on Thurs night home games, does that mean that will be the ONLY day this happens? In other words, we don’t have to worry about seeing them against every SE division team or on the weekends? I personally do not care for the jerseys so the less the better!

Thanks Smoothie- and yes- the red jerseys will ONLY be worn on Thursdays. That’s 12 times total. Every Thursday home game, regardless of opponents.

I’d much rather read your personalised twitter than the ones that are strictly team or blog-oriented. Its nice to know there’s a person on the other side of it all, not just some bot who posts a tweet whenever there’s a new blog/story up. I know when I’ve read something and I tell my husband about it I find myself saying “Well Ben said today…” haha. Hope that doesn’t sound creepy. Sorry!
