In addition to the news below that Boris Vlalabik is on the IR following surgery and Colby Armstrong is off of the IR, the team has announced that Jordan LaVallee-Smotherman has been traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets for future considerations. LaVallee-Smotherman actually changed his name this summer to Jordan Smotherman, so keep that in mind if you want to keep tabs on him in the Blue Jackets organization.
As for tonight’s game, Dan Kamal has been Tweeting all day (though Twitter is having some issues so you might not have seen Dan’s work) and here is what he has shared:
- The goaltending battle will be Pavelec vs. Mason
- Christoph Schubert has been cleared to play and wil do so with Anssi Salmela who had a goal in Saturday’s opener.
- It appears that Slater and Popovic are the scratches. That puts Reasoner between Boulton and Thorburn. I wonder if he’s ever skated with that much muscle before.
- Evander Kane met Tony McKegney after the morning skate. McKegney was one of the earliest black impact players in the NHL. He played in the NHL from 1978-1991, including two seasons in St. Louis and he scored 320 goals and 639 points in 912 NHL games.

Interesting…
I wonder if Hainsey is simply just showing support for Pavs during the interim or if he (and other players) have the mindset that he’s going to be the guy this year. I suspect it is just as frustrating for the players as it is for us fans not knowing what the future holds for our net-minders.
At least Ron thought Pavs played well against the Bolts….although I believe he is in the minority on this one.

I have seen for years the phrase “for future considerations”. What is really meant by that? I don’t remember seeing too many press releases that were in the form of something like “Remember that guy we traded a few weeks back…here’s the guy we are getting to complete the trade…”
