The plan was for about 500 Thrashers fans to make the trip to Nashville for Saturday’s game, but how many will actually make it in bad weather (including snow and sleet on mountain roads between the two cities, as well as accumulation on the ground in Tennessee).
What we do know is that the buses carrying about 80 Atlanta Thrashers Fan Club members will leave Atlanta around noon and I’ll be with them, as will our video producer Kyle. If the power and WiFi on the buses are working we plan to film, photograph, tweet, blog and post as we make the 250 mile trip to our closest NHL neighbors. There will also be a liveblog during the game (it won’t be televised, unless you count the jumbotron feed on Center Ice) and if all goes well we’ll get some locker room video and sound.
So make sure you stop by the site to follow the latest news from Nashville. We won’t be at the morning skate but we should have everything else covered.
Both the Bruins and the Panthers lost on Friday night, so the Thrashers enter the Nashville game in sole possession of sixth place in the east with a chance to put a small buffer between them and some of the pack before they come home to face Tampa on Tuesday. It’s shaping up to be an exciting 2.5 months of hockey to finish the season.
Come on, Ben… We come home to face Tampa on Tuesday… I know you are just excited about the trip and overlooking the Bolts though.

A once in a lifetime experience for this part of the country…. the snow to coincide w/ the drive thru N. Ga/Mtns.??? Into Nashville? Don’t think I’ve ever experienced it.

Tony the girls & I are about 40 min from N’ville by car. Ran into heavy fog & snow 45 min N of C’nooga
but cruisin’ along now. Look forward to cheering the Thrashers on tonight.

I have so much respect for the fans that went on this trip, just for the fact that they’re doing all of this for nothing in return from the organization.
It’s great to see that the team does have a strong core of fan support. AS needs to smarten up and BUILD on what just happened. I don’t think there are many other teams in the league that had a fan-organized road trip like this past weekend. This should be a yearly event with contests and perks and the whole she-bang!
