Thrashers fan Everett Duke is on the ground in Vancouver taking in the Olympic sites and sounds, as well as six hockey games in two days. He sent me a journal entry last night and more will be on the way after he sees some hockey. Here is entry number one, and I highly recommend following him on Twitter, even though he says “War Eagle” a bit too much for my liking during college football season.
As for the action on the ice, none of your Thrashers are in action tomorrow but they all play tomorrow. Russia plays the Czech Republic on NBC at 3 pm and Sweden faces Finland in the late game at 11:55 pm on MSNBC. Sandwiched in between is the highlight of the preliminary round- Canada versus the United States at 7:45 pm. It should be a great day of hockey.
All four Thrashers who have played (as expected Ondrej Pavelec hasn’t seen action, and likely won’t unless Vokoun falls apart) have played well, but have flown under the radar. Afinogenov and Enstrom have assists while Oduya and Kubina are each logging key minutes on their teams’ bluelines. You can keep tabs on them at Olympic Central.
If you’re trying to sort out all of the possible seeding scenarios (there are 64 of them based on the last set of preliminary games) then head over to Japer’s Rink. They’re Capitals fans, but they’re good people.
Sorry Ben,
I absolutely love your blog that consists of continuous up-to-date information, news, and analysis of everything pertaining to the Atlanta Thrashers…but, you’ve got to proofread your work for just a minute or two. I am an English major at Boston College, and a die-hard Thrashers fan, but I cannot stand “lazy” grammatical errors.
Go Thrashers!!!
Simply one of many I have noticed (I’ll post them when I see them, considering it helps yourself):
“As for the action on the ice, none of your Thrashers are in action tomorrow (TONIGHT) but they all play tomorrow.
C’mon.

The message still got through didn’t it Jared? I’m always in favor of writing without mistakes and proper grammar, but blogging is not newspaper writing. Ben does a fantastic job considering when and where he is making his posts with a busy schedule.
If he screws up a little bit here and there, I think we as fans can allow some leeway for the amount of information we receive on a semi-daily basis.
The internet isn’t a term paper, news article, or book. How about all of the constant grammatical mistakes on Twitter everyday? And that is just a sentence or two…
Go Thrashers!

Zim,
I know Ben is a great writer and does a FANTASTIC job covering the news of the Atlanta Thrashers. But, I think you’d have to agree, he could just read it once through, literally for 30 seconds, and he’d be able to catch every minute grammatical error. All in all, I guess I’m just being hard-headed, let’s go Thrashers. March to the Playoffs!!!
