Kane Wins KO of the Year Award

As Puck Daddy pointed out today, hockeyfights.com has handed out their annual awards honoring the best fisitcuff moments of the 009-10 season and it should come as no surprise that Evander Kane won TKO/KO of the year for his knockout of Matt Cooke in the season finale.

Here is the fight video with Dan Kamal’s outstanding call in case you want to watch it for the 100th time.

That KO almost made up for the disappointment of the season, every time I watch it I laugh again. Here’s hoping Kid Kane and the rest of the team take heart from the last game last year, the new promise and make something happen. GO THRASHERS !

  3. Anyone’s call would be far more enthusiastic/passionate than anything Matt McConnell says…

Would love to see a video that shows all the plays leading up to the fight. I didn’t see this game live, but I heard about Kane hitting Crosby and then everyone on the Pens trying to get Kane … obviously leading to the KO later on.

Kane took the puck from Crysby which upset the less than great one. So Crysby crosschecked Kane. Next shift Kane skated past Crysby’s weak defensive game. I think he slashed Kane for that one. Kane put him into the wall a little later and the Pens turned up their physical game against Kane. Kane grew tired of it and challenged Cooke (after Cooke had slashed and crosschecked Kane a few times). You know the results

I was at that game and your right Bill, there was electricity in the air that night even borderline hostil in the Nest. It was a large crowd, especially when the Boys in Blue only had broken pride to play for. I imagine that most of the people there bought tickets in advance (I bought mine the day of the game) when they were chasing the last playoff spot.

That said, the ownership group and all the Southern Hockey haters out there should take notice. This team does have very passionate fans. Give us a product worth watching, and we will spend our hard earned money. Some call that “fair weather” fans, I call it a fan base that is tired of being crapped on.

So far I like what I see coming from the new managment. We will see what happens at the begining of the season.

    GO THRASH!
