Some fans loved them, and others weren’t big fans. Whether you were a fan of the red third jerseys or not, they were unique, but their time has come to an end. After launching in the fall of 2008 and being worn for three seasons as an alternate home jersey the red Thrashers jersey is being retired. The Thrashers will return to the basics next season and stick with their regular home and road uniforms with no third jersey in 2011-12. Were you a fan? Will you miss it?

With the retiring of the red jersey comes the presumed scrapping of the red Blue Crew uniforms. Some fans might be more disappointed about that. Which is a bigger loss to you?

Will there be a bonfire where we can burn all of the bad karma that we had in those things out of the franchise?
Our Blue Crew girls could make even “puke yellow” look fabulous!
definitely won’t miss them…that was one of the worst jerseys in hockey history.
can we also finally scrap the blueland campaign?
The color was great could have been nice if not designed by a third grader…much like the “baby blues” they wear now. I LOVE the original Navy sweaters!! Should have never gotten rid of them. How about we bring those back as third jerseys.
Hated them. and as matt said….put the Blue Crew in anything and it looks stunning. So no. I won’t miss the change.
I think a new jersey needs to be made that takes the look and feel back to our original jersey with the original logo. That was the best design!
I loved the red third jerseys and wore it more often than the others. My favorite jersey is still the original dark blue jerseys worn in the first couple of seasons. Bring that one back!!
Pick one or the other. Be “Blueland” or have red jerseys. Liked the red, but it made no sense.
Woohooo no more basketball jerseys!!!!
those jerseys were awesome. I have 2 of them. Will definitely miss.
I was never a fan, but can we please bring back the ORIGINAL red jersey!
I love my Thrashers, and love my collection of their jerseys, but the whole jersey set needs a refurbishing. Our home and away jerseys have NOTHING to do with one another, which is bizarre. The last time we looked good was with the flying T maroon and navy that matched the white jersey cut, with the blue as an alt.
Match the white and blue style, add more of the light blue throughout the logo and white jersey.
The football jersey is dead? Good.
I liked these jerseys. They need a new alternate for sure. How about a black and gold one
I really liked the third jersey they were more comfortable than the blue or white jerseys with the huge emblem on them. As a female, I love the way the red jersey made our guys look svelte. Since I have all three jerseys,I suppose I will make adjustments but that is not to say I will not “rock” my third jersey on occasion just as I rock the original from time to time!
“My favorite jersey is still the original dark blue jerseys worn in the first couple of seasons. Bring that one back!!”
Couldn’t agree more…at least bring that back as a ‘new’ third
Agree w/ hip czech. They never made sense with Blueland. But Blueland never made sense anyways. Can we lose it too?
is it so difficult to let the fans pick the design of jerseys? come up with about 5 designs and let us pick which one we like. after all, we’re the ones who will be buying them. the third jerseys were hideous, and i’m not sure why they were ever approved. they made the islanders’ gordon fisherman jerseys look decent.
I agree with you, I think if you guys have to wear them each and every game, you should be able to choose what you want to wear. I also like the idea of asking for design ideas and voting on them. If it’s time for a change let make it a complete change. You go BigBuff!!
yeah but for that you need owners….
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
These were my all time favourite jerseys. I kind of knew this would happen but myself and my friends ( I live in Canada, so for all of them to agree that the Jersey for a southern team was awesome was something special) all agreed they were one of the coolest and sharpest looking jerseys in hockey.
Glad the Thrashers third uniforms are gone. This team hasn’t played well in those jerseys for whatever reason. They should stick to the blue unis as it’s called Blueland for a reason. Blue Crew needs to live up to their name and wear…BLUE. Of course they would look good in almost anything.
we need to get jerseys that match. the red jerseys had nothing to do with the blue ones. bring back the original maroon ones!
“With the retiring of the red jersey comes the presumed scrapping of the red Blue Crew uniforms.”
That’s OK. I have no problem with seeing the Blue Crew without their uniforms.
I vote the old original dark (road at the time, later switched to home) jersey be brought back as the third/alternate jersey
Glad this one is done. Sucks for all those folks that just bought one at the last game!
And I also vote to scrap the Blueland campaign.
I am just happy that there is a plan for any jersey for the ATLANTA Thrashers at this point. I like the original jersey as well, and am glad to see the red retired.
I hated the red. I also hate the big logo with the sweeping wing holding a hockey stick.
Wish we’d try for something a little less late 90′s angular.
Phoenix has had some bad ones, but I like the direction they’ve gone in recent years.
Classic design with a modern touch. I feel our unis already look dated.
I never got the fact that the team had two logos initially, I think that’s the main reason I didn’t care for the original navy jerseys. Seems as though the organization was trying to do too much with the logos, neither the “bird in a blender” or the “capital T” jersey do much to capture the imagination. Should we get new ownership (God, please) I wouldnt mind seeing them scrap it all and start over. Not like we have success to attach that jersey anyway…
Glad to see the red jerseys go. How could anyone even think that red even fit in to the “Blueland” theme? And then, it wasn’t even a nice red jersey. Now if we could just get the braves to ditch their ugly red “Sunday” jerseys, all would be right with the world.
I liked them better than the powder blue ones.
I would love to see a new third, mostly navy blue with some light blue, with the Thrasher T logo on the front.
I’ll never fault a team for trying something new and original, but these jerseys were pretty bad
The Home Blue + Black (or Deep Grey) would look killer.
As for the red jerseys my stomach appreciates the Thrashers ending that garbage of color scheme.
@ jason– Where is the bonfire to burn that crap?
We will definitely miss the red Blue crew outfits.
I loved the alternate jerseys. Best jerseys in hockey!
Why dont we do what the lightning are doing for next year and give our whole image a new look? New variations of the logos, new jereseys, new owners…etc
The motocross look wasn’t nearly as bad as the Hulkamania wordmark across the chest.
No thirds next year? Gotta love budget cuts.
Horrible thirds that had nothing to do with hockey tradition. Glad to see those terrible sweaters go. Now to save the franchise.
Not a fan of any Thrashers jerseys… too loud. Advice: keep ‘em simple (e.g. original six-like). Make the players and the fans want to throw on the jerseys. They’ll (subconsciously) feel better and play better.
i’ve never been a fan of our logo or team name. not to sound entirely negative but it was set up for disaster. the state bird was the best choice? yikes..not to mention most people gladly remove the H from ‘thrashers’ when saying it.
as a logo and name you can only do so much with a little brown bird..as no one in their right mind would have a brown jersey. seriously..i hope no one ever wonders why this team is the laughing stock of the NHL. we have a brown bird as a logo and the geniuses come up with “blueland” ..there must be BLUE thrashers somewhere in georgia…or worse the putrid batman logo that people liked. i guess the pickens were slim..a batman logo..are you kidding me? this isn’t 1989 and michael keaton isn’t a star anymore. the thirds were equally atrocious, they look like french fry containers. our Irish st. patty’s jersey’s are the best ones i’ve seen this team wear..too bad they focus on a black community that doesn’t watch hockey rather than the many Irish americans in Georgia like myself. i vote for those to be worn full time, not just for one warm-up a year. it would be unique.
in all seriousness, i pray for new ownership and for them to re-brand the franchise, erase everything associated with the nightmares of the ‘Atlanta thrashers’..the stirred soup-bowl logo and team name..it was doomed from day 1, re-brand it and give fans something to identify with rather than a reminder of years and years of being crapped on and ridiculed because we’re an easy target considering the blunders this franchise makes almost daily, blunders they made day 1 by electing to name it the ‘thrashers’.
This is totally off topic but speaking of jerseys. What does everybody think about the first jersey to be retired for the Thrashers, be of Dan Synder’s , to honor him? I would love to go to a game and see number 37 hanging from the rafters knowing that Dan is looking over everybody.
How about renaming the team the Atlanta Fire?
Those Jerseys were obviously the brainchild of a marketing department that has no clue about hockey. Thats what happens when you try to cut costs by consolidating your promotions between basketball and hockey, it simply doesnt work. Here’s an idea: get someone who has actually has a passion for hockey to design some real uniforms. Either that or continue to be the laughingstock of the league with the mickey mouse garbage they currently wear.
(P.S) look to your minor league affiliate in Gwinnett. Those are good looking uniforms
